High School Classes
Speech 1/Debate 1 – 1 semester each – ½ credit – not required, but highly recommended and colleges LOVE it! And fun!
Speech 1 will be held in the FALL;
• DEBATE 1 in the Spring
Debate 2 (Advanced) – 1 semester – so far; for students interested in participating on a high school debate team - ½ credit; not required, but looks GREAT on a transcript!
• U. S. History/Lit - 2 semesters/15 weeks each = 2 credits (1 – American
Lit/English; 1 – US History) required
• World History/Lit - 2 semesters/15 weeks each = 2 credits (1 – World History; 1– World Lit/English) required
• Composition: Essays - FALL semester only = 1/2 credit
• Composition: Research - SPRING semester only = 1/2 credit
• British Literature/Composition – 2 semesters - 1 credit
• Advanced Composition: Responding to Literature - This class will be an advanced
class for juniors or seniors ONLY. The content will be beginning college level and will prepare students for the rigors of a freshman English class. 2 semesters = 1 credit
Writing for the SAT – class being developed; probably 6 weeks; may be counted as composition for an English class or SAT/ACT prep (1/2 credit); not required
Study Skills – six-week course in how to study, test taking skills, time management, long-term academic planning; not required Classes must have a minimum of 5 students and are limited to 12 students. You will be notified if your class does not meet the minimum or try to schedule a second session if there are too many. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee per student. The application fee is due upon registration or at the Parent Night meeting (see below), payable to Ruth Martin. Tuition is $240.00 per class or $20 per week per class for 12 weeks each semester. Please NOTE: I'm in the process of revamping the History/Lit courses and am planning extend the courses to 15 weeks/semester.

The cost for those classes would be $300. You may pay per week or per semester,
but you must inform the instructor of your payment preference. Tuition may be paid by cash or check, payable to the instructor. Classes will meet one day each week for 1 ½ hours. US and World History/Lit will meet for 2 hours each week. Homeschooling work will be assigned to be completed OUTSIDE of class. Classes will be held at 1345 Chandler Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30045 (the Martin residence) There will be a parent meeting Monday, August 1 at 7:30 PM at Ruth Martin's home at the above address. Parents are expected to be present at least one time during the semester, unless other arrangements are made. This is for our protection as well as the students'.
